CEO of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund

Dr. Linda Ncube-Nkomo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession with extensive experience in various sectors including the Development Sector, Telecommunications, Financial Services and Consulting. Over the years she has developed her skills in Strategy Development and Implementation, Organizational Leadership, Business Development, Stakeholder Engagement as well as Project Management.

Her educational background includes a Doctorate in Business Leadership from UNISA School of Business Leadership as well as a master’s degree in the same field and institution. Dr Linda is the organizational host of the Africa Children’s Summit 2024.

Morudu Dikgang Thabo

President of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Parliament | Child Rights Advocate |passionate student in science | Youth & Community Leader

Morudu Dikgang is a vibrant and passionate youth leader dedicated to advocating for children’s rights, quality education, and community empowerment. As the President of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Parliament, Dikgang has been at the forefront of policy discussions, ensuring that children’s voices are heard at national and international levels. Their work focuses on improving education systems, strengthening child participation in governance, and addressing critical.

A strong believer in the power of education, Dikgang is a tutor in Mathematics and Physical Science, striving to inspire and support students in their academic journeys.He is involved in advocacy and engaging in meaningful dialogues with policymakers to create a better future for young people.

Dikgang commitment to youth development is also reflected in their leadership of Catalysts for Change Organisation, an NPO focused on empowering children and young people. Their work bridges the gap between policy and grassroots action, ensuring tangible change in communities.

Academically, Dikgang is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Physical Sciences at the University of Limpopo, blending their passion for science with their dedication to solving real-world challenges. With a keen interest in business and entrepreneurship, they also seek innovative ways to create sustainable opportunities for youth while pursuing their studies.

Dikgang’s leadership, resilience, and unwavering commitment to positive change make them a powerful force in shaping a brighter future for all.

Dikgang Morudu

President of the SA Children’s Parlaiment

Dikgang Morudu, is from Moletji-Makgodu, Limpopo. He is the sitting President of the South African Children’s Parlaiment. Morudu was elected at the 11th Children’s Parliament held in Bisho, East London.

He is a child rights activist in the South African context and is passionate about participation of children in processes that affect their lives and wellbeing and has been lauded for his work and advocacy in the context of violence against children, cyberbullying, teenage pregnancy and mental health. Together with his new executive Morudu will serve until 2025 when the new executive is elected.

Tara Hendricks

Advisor to the Western Cape Commissioner for Children and chair the Africa Children’s Summit 2025

Tara Hendricks, a 15-year-old advisor to the Western Cape Commissioner for Children (WCCC), she represents WCCC and is the incoming Co-Child Chair of the ACS ’24 which will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa this August. As part of the Child Government Monitors, Tara has been working with the Western Cape Children’s Commissioner Christina Nomdo since May 2022.

She leads the Children’s Planning Committee to, as part of her mission, ensure children voice their opinions on and influence policies, practices, and laws affecting their rights. Since taking office as Co-Child Chair, Tara has demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment towards advocating for child rights and improving the lives of children.

George Kande

I am a children’s rights and environmental activist with global influence, serving as a Child Advisor to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child for General Comment No. 26. I am the Chairperson of both the Africa Children’s Summit and the Kabwe Youth Network, as well as the Children’s News Agency (CNA) Kabwe Bureau. I played a key role in the formulation and launch of General Comment No. 26 and have spoken at major international summits, including the Africa Climate Summit and an event in Geneva, Switzerland. Additionally, I was the Head boy at Bwacha Secondary School, where I graduated as a top-performing student.

Brian King

Brian King is a 19-year-old Kenyan who deeply believes in the power of African children to change not just Africa but the world. As one of the founding members of the Africa Children Summit, he is passionate about ensuring that children across the continent are Seen, Heard, & Meaningfully Engaged. He believes that when empowered, African children can fight for their own rights and champion meaningful child participation in Africa. He believes that anything for Children,without Children is against Children.His favourite fruit is watermelon. 🍉
